The NYX Sport Vision System (NYX SVS) consists of three interchangable lenses designed to span the wide variety of conditions that pattern flyers face. The three lenses are designed to control the two factors that impact flyers the most - brightness and contrast. Brightness is the property of light that makes you squint. Contrast is the property that allows you to differentiate colors and focus on an object. Brightness is controlled by varying the total amount of light allowed through the lens while contrast is controlled by varying the amount and type of color allowed through the lens. Because of the nature of pattern flying, the ability to clearly see the airplane can mean the difference between putting in a winning round and a mediocre one. Eyewear designed for other sports does not adequately do the job necessary for our application, thus the need for a high performance package with interchangable lenses to account for the varying conditions that prevail at a contest, since the weather is hardly the same all the time. |
| The Lenses |
The lenses are made from polycarbonate and met or exceed and ANSI Z80.1 requirements for impact resistance. All lenses utilize a six base lens curvature that closely matches the actual curvature of the eye. This eliminates distortion across the normal viewing range. The lenses are also coated with a scratch resistant material and block 100% of harmful UV light. The following is a brief description of the standard three lenses that we have chosen that best fit our application. |

Dark Gray, Mirrored Lens >> This is the darkest lens with a mirrored finish allowing only 8% available visible light to come through. Used on very bright days to cut down on glare and reduce eye strain. Gray color leaves objects true to nature color. |

Amber Brown Lens >> This is a medium colored lens allowing in about 33% of available visible light. The amber color filters light more evenly then the vermillion and orange lenses, allowing objects to appear closer to their natural color. The brightness and contrast control features on the lens allow it to be used in a wide variety of conditions. |

Vermilion Lens >> A darker rose colored lens which allows 40% available visible light to come through. This lens is used to enhance your environment on bright sunny days, and reacts along the same principles as the light vermillion shade by sharpening the contrast of the target against green backgrounds. |

| The Frames |
The frame is made from Grilamid TR-90, a state of the art nylon 12 derivative manufactured by EMS/American Grilon. This material represents the best combination of strength and flexibility available in a plasic frame. The temples and nosepieces are made of a special elastomer which grips securely to ensure that the sunglasses do not move or slide on your face, even in sweaty conditions. |

| Options |
There are several options available with these glasses that are offered that range from extra frames to extra lenses. Although we do not stock any of these options, they are available directly from NYX.
Prescription Lenses >> The intraSPX™ prescription insert can be interchanged between any NYX frame and lens combination.The prescription insert is obtained by filling out the included form and sending it along with a recent prescription to Sved Optics. Sved Optics allows a 30 day evaluation period for the intraSPX™ insert. If for any reason you are not completely satisfied, simply send the insert back and you will receive a full refund. If your doctor changes your prescription within 60 days of purchase, return the insert with your new prescription and Sved will remake it at no charge.
